Fortuny
Fortuny® was founded in 1984 in the heart of Venice with the ambition of creating high-craftsmanship products that speak the universal language of good taste and refinement through the careful research of materials and meticulous attention to detail.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, a brilliant Spanish artist, moved to Venice and, together with his wife, turned his palace into an actual workshop, an atelier where craftsmanship and technique were combined, and his inventions came to life.
Today, just a few steps away from that palace, Fortuny sees itself as the preserver of Mariano Fortuny's creative heritage, of the elegance of an artistic production that is a milestone in the history of design and fashion. Inspired by the colours and reflections of the lagoon city, where the company still maintains its headquarters and production, Fortuny has absorbed and personified the artist's style and the essence of Venice, its timeless charm and its existence suspended between East and West.
The world-famous silk lamps are still made and hand-painted in Venice today, using the same methods as their creator. The lightness of the opaline silk, the delicacy of the decoration and the balance of the silhouette merge, creating authentic sculptures of light.
With the collection of glass lamps, Fortuny continues the centuries-old tradition of Venetian glassblowers: the brilliance and transparency of the glass enhance the delicate gold decorations, made even more precious by the burnished metal of the decorative rings.
Trait d'union between silk and modern collections, Icaro is a fiberglass lamp with indirect and diffused light, which revives the original inverted pagoda shape in a new and contemporary look.
